The University of Zenica (UNZE) is a relatively young HEI. It is a public university established in 2000 by a decision of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Assembly.
The University of Zenica is one of eight public universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it consists of eight faculties with 34 fields of undergraduate studies, 34 fields of master studies and 5 PhD schools. From the beginning, the University based its development on the principles of the Bologna Declaration. The aim was to make the educational process at the University recognizable for its excellence at local, national as well as at the international level. In the years, through the support to the development of quality assurance principles, the University of Zenica took one of the leading positions among higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is constantly confirmed through the students’ successes, internal and external evaluations, accreditation procedures, being the generator of development in every sense, including scientific and teaching, technical and technological, economical, artistic, and humanistic sense; thus being the initiator of the development of social and spiritual development of the city of Zenica and the wider community. Having in mind the goals of this project and the model of implementation of activities, the holder of activities within UNZE will be the staff of the Faculty of Medicine. We expect that the results of this project will build on the previous Tempus project in which UNZE participated – CCNURCA (544169-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-BE-TEMPUS-JPCR). Studies at the faculty are organized in two directions: general medicine and health care. The improvement of the learning process planned by the introduction of the MCPB module will first be implemented in selected courses in the field of general medicine. After the completion of the project, UNZE plans to implement the proposed model of improving learning in all courses in the department of general medicine, and then in the field of health care. As a young educational institution, UNZE expects to improve its cooperation with EU HEIs as well as other HEIs in the WBC through work on this project. The mobility of its teaching and administrative staff of UNZE within this project will contribute to strengthening the capacity of that staff, but also to strengthening the educational capacity of HEI.
