Panel Discussion on Improving Learning Methods Using Digital Tools and Presentation of the Project “Development and Implementation of Metacognitive, Problem-Based Modules in Blended Learning Courses in Medical Sciences (ProBLeMS)”
This Friday, meetings and a panel discussion were held at the Institute of Public Health regarding the improvement of learning methods using digital tools within the Erasmus+ project titled “Development and Implementation of Metacognitive, Problem-Based Modules in Blended Learning Courses in Medical Sciences.” The Institute of Public Health of Montenegro and the Medical Faculty in Podgorica are partners in this significant project, whose goal is to transfer the latest knowledge and experiences from the European Union to universities in the Western Balkans. The Medical Faculty in East Sarajevo coordinates the project, and partners include the Medical Faculties in Innsbruck, Banja Luka, Belgrade, Kosovska Mitrovica, Zenica, and Mostar, the Association for Biomedical Informatics and Statistics of the Republic of Srpska, and the Ecological Medical Expert Group (EMEG).
In addition to presenting the activities being carried out and planned within the project, the experiences of the Ministry of Education in using digital tools for the education of students, teaching staff, and parents through the Montenegrin Education Information System were also presented. Afterward, a panel discussion followed, aiming to assess the role of innovative approaches in educating students from an early age and the possibilities for using metacognitive, problem-based modules not only in the education of medical faculty students but also as a valuable tool in assessing knowledge after completing undergraduate studies, during professional exams, and in periodic knowledge checks after completing specialist and subspecialist studies. In addition to representatives from institutions participating in the project, active participation was taken by representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, and experts in public health. Joint activities were agreed upon for the future to enhance education in medical sciences.
